Financial Events Calendar Solution Design; Rebranding and Website Design

Weaver was recently asked by Columba Systems to turn around a design project that they were managing on behalf of a leading international bank. Our challenge was to deliver the interaction and visual design for a bespoke version of Columba’s highly-sophisticated financial events calendar software.

The Brief

The bank’s regular UX and visual design agencies had struggled for weeks to get to grips with the project’s interactive and branding design requirements; Weaver had just days to turn the project around and deliver development-ready designs — a challenge for any website, but all the more so for such a highly-complex project as this one.

The Work

Weaver ran a project kickoff workshop with Columba stakeholders in order to get up to speed with detailed project requirements and generate initial ideas for the design approach as quickly and efficiently as possible. Taking the workshop findings and end-client brand guidelines as starting points, we then set about iterating the wireframes we had inherited from the previous agency. We combined interaction design and visual design in a single, seamless workflow — experience has taught us that a close marriage of interaction and visual design is a prerequisite for the creation of compelling interfaces onto complex and diverse information types and interactions such as this project presented. Key to ensuring the success of this radically integrated design approach was maintaining constant communication with both Columba stakeholders and, via Columba, with the end client.

The Results

Within a matter of days, Weaver had delivered development-ready designs for all key aspects of the solution.

Columba was so pleased with the results of Weaver’s work on this initial collaboration that they then promptly commissioned us to redesign their visual brand, website, Catalyst Calendar hosted service offering (an own-branded version of the white label service detailed above) and marketing materials.
