The Brief

Fashionspace.com v1 was conceived in 2006 as “eBay meets MySpace for fashionistas”. By the time Fashionspace called upon Weaver’s services in autumn 2008, they had grown their site to 27k users, but were struggling to monetise them — and to avoid the site’s community areas getting clogged up with fashion retail spam.

The Work

Weaver worked with the Fashionspace team to help them define a new product concept that re-imagined Fashionspace as a fashion retail platform with selective social features. This new product concept was in contrast to the existing service, which was effectively a generic social network with fashion retail features bolted on. Having carried out a comprehensive competitive analysis for the new product concept, Weaver set about creating and UX testing a rich-interactive prototype website and iPhone application.

The Results

As the testimonial from their CEO attests, the Fashionspace team and their investors were delighted with the results that Weaver delivered to them. Sadly, however, Fashionspace.com closed in 2009 due to lack of funds.
